Berlin 10051

Description

Provenance: Former owner: Werner Wolffheim (1877-1930). Acquired by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin through auction in 1929.

Description: A collection of keyboard pieces likely dating from the early eighteenth century. The collection was restored in November 2002, and is since unbound. K30 is a single bifolium while K29 starts on the verso of a bifolium and is to be read, in its entirety, across the fold (the same goes for several other items in this collection).

Titles: K30: ‘Del S. Dom. Scarlatti’; K29: ‘Sonata da Cembalo steso Del S.r Dom.co Scarlattj’.

Copyist: Italian amateur hand.

Comments: Several Italian indications are given throughout the collection; in K29 ‘destra’ and ‘sinistra’ for the hand indications. French titles are used for the Händel suites.

Date: Based on the contents of the collection, the first half of the eighteenth century (dating by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin) appears likely.
