Provenance: Unknown.
Description: According to Alvarenga 2009Alvarenga, João Pedro d’. 2009. ‘Some Preliminaries in Approaching Carlos Seixas’ Keyboard Sonatas’. In Ad Parnassum. A Journal on Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-Century Instrumental Music 7:13. Ut Orpheus Edizioni, Bologna, 95-128. , this is a composite volume made of two originally independent parts: part A (gatherings 1-2) and part B (gatherings 3-26). The only Scarlatti sonata in this collection, K50, is found on fols. 20v-22r (no attribution is given).
Watermarks: Alvarenga reports a watermark of SP (reversed), indicating paper possibly of Genoese origin, in part A. Part B contains a watermark of the letters SB over P (SB/P).
Titles: The composer of some of the pieces is indicated by the copyists. The Scarlatti is not attributed.
Copyists: Two copyists for this collection were identified by Alvarenga: scribe B in part A; scribe C in part B. Scribe C further made additions on fol. 7r (in part A).
Comments: There are a large number of absent bars in the second part. Variant analysis suggests that Lisbon 338 is part of an Iberian tradition, but it does not appear that its exemplar has survived.
Date: According to Alvarenga, this collection was copied in 1774-1775.
