Description: Folio format, 30.8×21.5cm. 53 pages, sewn binding. A stave paper in oblong format with music, featuring numerous cross-outs, serves as an improvised cover. The manuscript presents different papers ranging from 14 to 16 staves. It is a miscellanea of keyboard works by Scarlatti, Francesc Mariner (1720-1789), Anselm Viola (1738-1798), Antoni Mestres (†1786), and other local composers. Numerous inscriptions in Catalan appear in the manuscript.
Rastrum: The rastrum varies significantly. Two examples: Page 1: stave span: 0.8cm; distance between staves: 1.1cm; total stave span: 26cm; length of stave: 20.2cm. Page 3: stave span: 0.9cm; distance between staves: 1cm; total stave span: 28.2cm; length of stave: 20.4cm.
Title: ‘Sonatas de Organo de Joseph Regordosa’. The name Regordosa appears twice on the cover; Joseph Cardellach is also mentioned on the cover.
Copyist: Presumably an amateur; careless music writing and rastra drawing, particularly in pages 1-9.
Comments: Montserrat 2158 contains two sonatas in the Kirkpatrick catalogue as well as three spurious sonatas. Of the three spurious sonatas KS30 is also attributed to Scarlatti in Montserrat 1770 (pp. 74-75). In Montserrat 2158 the first part of the sonata was copied out twice, but the first time was crossed out. The upbeats to both parts (present in Montserrat 1770), as well as those in other bars, are absent here. The other two spurious sonatas, KS33 and KS34, are unique to this manuscript.
