Provenance: Ownership stamp, fol. 1r: F. Commer (Franz Commer, 1813-1887). Purchased from Musikantiquariat Hans Schneider (Tutzing, Germany) in 2000. Part of the Ralph Kirkpatrick Fund.
Description: A manuscript copy of Scarlatti’s K30 arranged for organ.
Title: ‘Fuga di Domenico Scarlatti’.
Copyist: A single German or Austrian hand; it does not match Commer’s own hand based on autographs present in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin.
Comments: Several organ indications (Ped., Man.) as well as at least one addition in pencil (which may be in Commer’s hand).
Date: Dated to the eighteenth century on RISM. Based on the handwriting and paper used, we would tentatively suggest that a much later range is possible and may even be more likely (anywhere from the 1780s to the mid-nineteenth century).
