Provenance: Former owner: Bernardo Valois y Bethencourt [or Betancourt] (1740-1791). Uncatalogued manuscript deposited in the Archivo Zárate Cólogan (private family archive deposited in the Archive of Santa Cruz de Tenerife).

Description: According to Yáñez Navarro 2015Yáñez Navarro, Celestino. 2015. ‘Nuevas aportaciones para el estudio de las sonatas de Domenico Scarlatti: los manuscritos del Archivo de Música de las catedrales de Zaragoza’. PhD dissertation, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. , this manuscript contains three pieces attributed to Scarlatti, two of which were first brought to light by Rosario Álvarez Martínez (KS31 and KS32). The third piece is a copy of K298 possibly based on the Johnson 2 edition.

Titles: ‘fandango / Del Sig.r Scarlate’; ‘Sonata do 8.o tono del Gran dn. Dom.o Scarlaty’.

Copyist: Possibly Valois y Bethencourt himself.

Comments: This collection was not available during the ‘Texting Scarlatti’ project.

KS31 is also attributed to Carlos Seixas in the manuscript MM57 of the Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal) and was included by Kastner in his 1965 edition of Seixas’s works (no. 46).

Date: Yáñez Navarro states that this manuscript as a whole was copied between 1770 and 1791.
